Thanks for collaborating in this oil contracts crowdcrafting project. By transcribing the FULL LEGAL NAME, ABBREVIATION and JURISDICTION of each CONTRACTOR of the following contracts, you will help create corporate network maps of the world's first comprehensive archive of published oil contracts.
The process is very easy. Simply search through the following documents and fill in the form. For more information, please follow this tutorial."
Search through the contract and fill in the names of each contractor, one by one. In order to identify each company, it is imported to write the FULL LEGAL NAME, i.e. "Septa Energy Nigeria Limited" rather than simply "Septa".
It is common in oil contracts to mention the jurisdiction of each contractor, i.e. “Septa Energy Nigeria Limited“, “incorporated under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria“. If this is the case, please only fill in "Nigeria".
In almost all contracts, companies will for most parts be referred to by an abbreviation (i.e. "hereinafter referred to as 'NPDC'"). Such abbreviations can mostly be found next to the FULL LEGAL NAME.
Once you have identified all contractors and their jurisdiction, it is time to check whether you can find them on OpenCorporates.com, using the search-tool in the sidebar. As there can be multiple companies with very similar names, please make sure that legal name and jurisdiction really match an entry on OpenCorporates, before you select it (the tool will autocomplete the OpenCorporates ID). Also note, that not all contractors will have an entry on OpenCorporates, in which case you can leave the field blank.
There may be one or more contractors, so you can add new ones or remove them by clicking on or buttons. In case you can't find any of the information, please click on the "Report this contract" button.
And that's all! If you need a reminder on what exactly should be on each field, please push on the "Help" button you'll be able to see these instructions again. Thank you!
